(Frisco, Texas – July 18, 2017) – The Frisco Bowl has hired Sean Johnson to serve as its executive director. The postseason college football game is owned by ESPN Events and will be managed and operated at Toyota Stadium by FC Dallas. Johnson has more than 20 years of experience in sports sponsorships and media sales with the Dallas Cowboys, Host Communications, IMG College and the University of New Mexico. He comes to Toyota Stadium from Fox Sports Southwest in Irving, Texas, where he served as an account executive and partnerships director.

“Sean brings a wealth of experience working in college and professional sports from both a local and national sales perspective,” Toyota Stadium president Dan Hunt said. “His understanding of the market will help us grow the Frisco Bowl into one of the most exciting bowl game experiences in the country.”

“Sean is uniquely suited to lead our game both within the city of Frisco as well as within the bowl system,” said ESPN vice president of events Clint Overby.  “As our game strives to celebrate the two participating teams, their fans and the community we are in, Sean provides a strong foundation to lead our efforts.”

Prior to working for Fox Sports Southwest, Johnson was the Dallas Cowboys Senior Manager of Corporate Partnerships where he increased new business each season and created new revenue streams through the development of collegiate properties. While at IMG College, he developed and sold title sponsorship opportunities for college rivalry games such as Arkansas/Texas A&M, SMU/TCU and Baylor/Texas Tech.

“ESPN provides the premier college football experience, while Toyota Stadium has proven to be an ideal venue for a bowl game,” Johnson said. “I am looking forward to making the Frisco Bowl a new tradition for this region while also honoring student-athletes from across the U.S.”

Johnson started July 19, 2017.
