FIRST FRISCO BOWL KICKS OFF (2017)
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the SMU Mustangs meet at Toyota Stadium in Frisco to kick off the inaugural Frisco Bowl on December 20, 2017. The Bulldogs eventually prevailed over the Mustangs, 51-10.
ROBERTS TD CATCH TO GIVE UNT LEAD (2022)
North Texas uses a little trickery to score when Stone Earle hits tight end Jake Roberts on a slip pass for a touchdown. The red zone score put UNT back on top 17-14 late in the third quarter.
ACROBATIC INTERCEPTION BY MARSHALL’S ABRAHAM (2023)
Star Marshall corner Micah Abraham makes a juggling contested interception off an acrobatic adjustment to pick off UTSA QB Owen McCown’s deep ball late in the first quarter.
10. JOSHUA CEPHUS CATCH & RUN TD TURNS THE TIDE FOR ROADRUNNERS (2023)
Owen McCown passes right into the flat to find Joshua Cephus, who turns on the burners to take the ball 44 yards on a catch and run score for UTSA. This huge play shifted momentum and tied the game 14-14 early into the second quarter. Cephus would go on to win Offensive MVP for the Roadrunners, finishing with seven receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown.
9. J’MAR SMITH FINDS TEDDY VEAL TO EXTEND THE BULLDOG LEAD (2017)
Louisiana Tech’s J’Mar Smith touchdown pass completed to Teddy Veal for 27 yards. This incredible touchdown completion led the Bulldogs to a 35-3 lead over the Mustangs and would ultimately help the Bulldogs seal the victory. Smith would go on to be named the 2017 Frisco Bowl Offensive MVP.
8. ASHTON JEANTY HURDLES DEFENSIVE PLAYER (2022)
Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (from Frisco Lone Star HS) powers the Broncos into the red zone by hurdling a UNT defender enroute to a big first down. BSU would capitalize three plays later, taking a 14-10 lead over the Mean Green. Jeanty also set the all-time rushing mark for the Frisco Bowl with 180 yards rushing.
7. BASKERVILLE’S INTERCEPTION SETS UP A SAN DIEGO STATE SCORE (2021)
San Diego State’s CJ Baskerville intercepts a pass attempt at the SDSU 31. Baskerville’s turnover resulted in an Aztec touchdown to take a 31-17 lead late in the third quarter, and him being named the 2021 Frisco Bowl Defensive MVP for this critical play.
6. ROURKE RUNS FOR SIX (2018)
Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke fools the entire defense before he scampers into the end zone for the first touchdown of the 2018 Frisco Bowl against San Diego State. Rourke’s nine-yard scoring run gave the Bobcats a 10-0 lead late in the first half. The Bobcats eventually shut out the Aztecs by a score of 27-0.
5. MATTHEWS DIVES PAST THE UTSA DEFENSE (2021)
San Diego State’s Lucas Johnson touchdown pass completed to Jessie Matthews for 20 yards. Matthews’ incredible dive at the pylon was the first of two touchdowns he had that night. The 2021 Frisco Bowl Offensive MVP also set new records in receptions (11) and receiving yards (175 yards).
4. RASHEEN ALI CREATES HISTORY AND GIVE THE HERD AN EARLY LEAD (2023)
Marshall Thundering Herd’s running back, Rasheen Ali, etched his name into the history books after his record-setting 64-yard touchdown run. This run helped the Thundering Herd expand their lead to 14-0 early in the first quarter.
3. LOVE TO MARINER TD PASS LATE TO PULL WITHIN 3 (2019)
Utah State wideout Siaosi Mariner caps a long Aggie drive with a gorgeous 11-yard toe-tap touchdown to bring the Aggies within three points of Kent State in the 2019 Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium on December 20, 2019. Despite Mariner’s efforts with just over three minutes left in the game, Utah State fell to the Golden Flashes, 51-41.
2. ROBERTSON PICKS IT OFF AND RETURNS IT FOR A LOUISIANA TECH TOUCHDOWN (2017)
Louisiana Tech defensive back Amik Robertson jumps a throw by SMU quarterback Ben Hicks and returns it to the end zone for a 45-yard touchdown to put Louisiana Tech up 14-0 in the 2017 Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium on December 20, 2017.
1. CRUM KEEPS IT AND ICES THE GAME FOR KENT STATE (2019)
Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum makes a perfect read and splits two defenders on his way to a 4-yard touchdown. Crum’s touchdown secured Kent State’s first bowl win in program history, and him being named the 2019 Frisco Bowl Offensive MVP.
